Welcome to Bay L'Argent

Newfoundland, Canada

Welcome to the town of Bay L'Argent!

Bay L’Argent, Newfoundland is a small town located among steep cliffs and sheltered saltwater inlets on the Burin Peninsula. While it is just a 10 minute drive from the main highway (HWY 210), the natural landscape provides an effective buffer to keep traffic noise to a minimum. That is, until the town comes alive for their annual Sugarloaf Festival!

The unique landscape also offers a range of backdrops for outdoor enthusiasts. Walkers and hikers will be rewarded with beaches perfect for beachcombing, hidden waterfalls, and a scenic panorama at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. If you prefer to explore by water, kayakers will enjoy calm waters and a breathtaking view of the contrast between earth and water.

A Message from the Mayor

Welcome to the official website of our town.

On behalf of Council, I would like to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to learn more about our community. Whether you are a resident, visitor, or considering making our town your home, we are pleased to have you here.

Our town is built on a strong foundation, and like many small rural communities, we are working through both challenges and opportunities. As a new Council, we are focused on moving our town forward in a positive and practical way—by improving services, strengthening communication, and creating more opportunities for residents to connect and get involved.

We recognize that building a stronger sense of community doesn’t happen overnight, but it is a priority for us. Through small steps, open dialogue, and community initiatives, we are committed to creating a place where people feel informed, included, and proud to call home.

This website is one of the ways we are working to improve communication and transparency. Here, you will find important updates, services, and information about what is happening in our town.

We encourage you to stay informed, share your ideas, and take part in helping shape the future of our community.

Thank you for your interest and support.

Sincerely,
Mayor Debbie Banfield
